What's the color of love?

 Well, red of course.

 My sweet friend asked for black and white with just a hint of red for these big LOVE letters.

Just the shadow of "heart" is red. The background paper is a very pale checkered grey/white with glitter dots. I added some stamped butterflies aswell as a few punched ones, and three different tapes. The two washi tapes (Love and plain black) goes all the way around to the back. 

 

 For the O I picked a letterfilled paper that made it super easy to fit in the red accents. Super easy all together really, cause all I needed to add after that was a bouquet of paper roses and leaves.

 The white on white stamping on top of the O adds that little extra dimension.

This paper has big swirly flowers and I just put several different tapes over it, all following the V-shape. I also covered a chipboard heart with metal tape and glued it on top of it all. The red is represented by a thin metal thread wired a few times around the letter.

 



 Hearts, hearts and hearts. In the background paper, stamped, embossed, as stickers and the red wooden ones. To add weight I put two strips of doily tape in the lower part (the black is what makes it "heavier").

Read my lips

Racer boy's sister needed a letter too. Since she's no longer a little girl, but a lovely young lady, I wanted for her a more sophisticated look. It turned out to be the most CAS letter I've ever made, with very few added decorations.

The background paper was chosen because of her interest in makeup. What better way to illustrate that than these pouting lips? I don't think it shows very well in this picture, but the big lips near the base got extra shine with "lipgloss" (aka stickles). Other than that, I just added one or two stamped and embossed swirls and the row of hearts at the base, for a romantic touch.  

I really like butterflies on my projects, and this delicate pink one feels just at home here. Combined with the much more "raw" metal birthdate plate it all corresponds very well with the background.

Oops. This was a bright one...hm. Well, you might be able to see the white on white stamping anyway. Actually I used a Silver pearl embossing powder here instead of plain white. It turned out softer, with a little shimmer. I added a swirl and some bling because....ja, just because. We all deserve some bling.

Isn't the brad just sooo right? :) Above it a glimpse of the bright pink felt swirly thing....

On the back of the tag is a "secret" message (okok, not so secret anymore...) and a glitter heart.

 

All in all, a lovely letter for a lovely girl.

Racer boy

Vrrrrrroooom! This little guy loves anything with an engine, and quite a few things without one. A paper filled with cars seemed fitting.

I inked the edges green on this multicolored paper, and followed it up with green bubbles/circles and an arrow. The blue is matched up with bubbles and the tags, and so on.... His mother wanted happy colors and not just "standard" boyish theme with blue tones. I really like the outcome.

I had this skyscraper stamp in my drawer that I colored in grey shades....it made the blue background look like sky (with flying cars I guess... :)) and added some weight to the base.

The tiny cars are stickers, just the right size for the road. Arent they adorable?

 



After negotiations, I was allowed from my boys to glue this cutie onto here.

A yellow bike button to match the yellow cab.

Name embossed in green along the side.

Sunshine on a bottle

While waiting for some letters to dry I thought I'd share this little Easter treat with you.
I've been wanting to try the Staz-on ink pad on glass, and when I found these yellow bottles/vases at IKEA (on sale!!), the time was right. For 10 kronor I certainly can afford to fail.
I think it turned out nice though. The letters spruced up the plain vases and made them noticeable.  :) Would have been even better with some traditional swedish Easter twigs in them, as I imagined it. But with all the snow we got today, there's no way I'm gonna find that tonight.

Now - back to finishing those letters!

DIY glitter votives

I had 10 minuters to spare the other night, wich turned out to be just the time needed to make these glitter votives.

Before - a simple IKEA votive in clear glass, and after - a luxurious goldshimmering eye catcher.

Vintage cake stand

Just a few days before christmas I came up with the idea of making three tier cake stands as christmas gifts for my family. Great idea!
NOT so great that I decided this a bit late.... However, a quick raid to the thrift shop and a browse on the internet later I luckily had all the parts needed AND a drilling-willing husband (noo, I did not find him online :P), so I made it in time for christmas. Just in time I might add.
I didn't have time, however, to take pictures.  Ja okey, I forgot. There were more important things to focus on right then and there. :)

I've later corrected my mistake, so out of the four cake stands I've managed to photograph three. Tadaa!

The one I kept for myself. Picture's from christmas eve and we've filled it with homemade candy. Yummy! You can't see it here of course, but it's green-ish and top and bottom tiers have similar empire? baroque? OLD depictions that ties it together nicely. 



Cake stand #2, for my mother-in-law. Pale green and pink flowers for this one. The openwork saucer on top is  the icing on this cake.

 

The third one I gave to my mother. It has brighter flowers and gold lining, although the top bowl is more of a bold border.

 

 

I think I may have to make some more of these, as soon as I have time to shop for more vintage plates. It was FUN!

 

Enchanting Emma

The last of the siblings-letters. I was told she's a girly girl with a passion for pink so I went with that. Easy peasy. 

Pink felt swirls softens the strict lines of E, as does the roses.

Every girl's an angel.

Roses are... pink. And romantic. :)

Emma got a swirl by her name, to match the felt swirls. With a few pearls it's just perfect!

Sweet sister

Second letter. A green/blue -ish toned S with purple enhancers on the pale blue background. On the left hand side a whole bunch of stamped hearts around the little critter on it's way up. A symbol of the love surrounding Sofia on her way up though childhood/life. (The stamped arrow says 'Memories this way' btw) Atleast that's what went on in my head while making it. :) 

On the top right hand side is her birthdate, just like on Little Lady. Since they're sisters I thought it would be nice to have some elements alike.

Absolutely love this sentence. Also love how it's barely readable here, with just 'big' standing out.

Instead of my usual white on white stamping I went with color for these girls. It's pretty nice too, don't you think? :)

Little lady

A dear (and luckily very patient) friend of mine ordered some letters for her family a while back. The first one, made for a sweet princessy little girl is all about pink and cuddly and cute...

Pink - of course - background paper with flock flowers. On top of that a lace border in the bottom, a stamped row of hearts and a yummy cupcake bow...

The centerpiece cupcake stack is stamped one by one directly onto the background and then colored and blinged (my personal fave is the cherry on top!). Kitty is stamped on a different paper, trimmed and adhered. Notice the itty bitty butterfly too.

Fit for a princess.

Girly girl flowers with gemstone. The "pistils" are actually snowflake brads - on spring break I like to think. ;)

Signs of love



There are so many things to try out there! One of the things would be this, Aged wood signs. A LOT of work, but with truly rewarding result, don't you think? Who would guess these plank pieces started out looking brand new?? Not me. :)

 



The process includes using power tools (yay!), sandpaper, rusty nails, saw, steel wool, vinegar and paint. Oddest combo so far.

 

Making the wood look and and distressed takes time, but I think the most time-consuming part is cutting the stencils....Oh I wish santa will send me a digital diecut gizmo!

 



Since stencilmaking isn't the most fun part I just combined the stencils I made to make different messages. That works. :)

 



For this last one, I used both masking and stencils in multiple layers.

Time-consuming or not, I need to make more!

 

 

I also made a few paintings with a curtain for canvas, they'll be up here soon.

Another girly girl letter, but in a softer, more romantic pink. I wanted this to look a little bit vintage in style and therefore added a whole bunch of stamps on top of the pink background paper. By using clear ink and heat embossing with Vintage powder it became less bubblegum and more shabby, wich I really like.  

The plaid ribbon picks up the brown color from the stamps, and so does the metal pearls, the brad and the frame. 

Dunno if I succeeded in my attempts to make this look like a clothes line, but I totally fell in love with that curly overall <3 ...and what about that cutie kitten in a basket?? OMG.

This adorable angel is my favourite part! I SO wish I had more of these... I put a tiny glitter heart on it, and blinged up the wings with pink Stickles.

But the reason it's my favourite is....it GLOWS in the dark!! Cooooool huh? It's super sweet!! Sadly I have no picture of it glowing though, it was too dark. :)

Princess in pink

Hello everyone! Chilly winds from up north, and I'm starting to feel christmasy. :) Early maybe, but we're planning for christmas at work so my head's filled with ideas for snowflakes on the walls and such. At home it's still fall though. The boys asked for jack o'lanterns today...
...and speaking of lanterns, there are still no light chain lanterns in sight in my craft room, but I do have a few new wood signs to show - when I come around to taking photos that is.

Ok, so meanwhile, here's a new letter.

Bright, bold colors and a whole bunch of hearts and crowns.

Princess-theme, in case you missed it. Hearts of all sorts in the background.

The deer from The Greeting Farm is simply SO sweet, perfect for baby projects. I've used it before, and am sure to do so again. This time I let it blend in with the background and just used a hint of white on the eye and chest.

Not really complete without some white on white stamping. There's also the baby's name along the side, but I didn't bother about a photo for that. I've done it about a million times by now. :)
