Thinking inside the box

For this project I needed an envelope...kinda. I found this altered box in my 'might do something with this later'-pile and just added the scentence.

Inside, I wanted to put this greeting "card", made for my mother-in-law on her 75th birthday.

I used scrap papers from the stash with an adorable design, but sadly have nooo idea what brand it is. I'm sure some of you know though. :) The front  with the picket fence hardly needed any embellishment. I just added the dragonfly, the scentence and a few mini flowers, to create a 3D effect.

A closeup on the flowers.

Here's also a heart charm and what I believe to be a seashell pendant in a rich copper tone. As you might see, I heat embossed the greeting also in copper, to match.

The punchinella is copper too, that's why it's there. No other reason. :)

Page 2 with lots and lots of hearts stamped all over. The stamped crown is heat embossed in....ja, you guessed it; copper. To make the words I put paper strips in my old Dymo and punched away. Super neat!

Flip side of page 2 and front of page 3. And a little minitag in between.

Chipboard numbers, but really a closeup of the cute cute paper. Swirls and roses, and the color combination...yum!

On the back, it's brown/creme with garden plans...or something. Swirls too.
And I added yet another scentence.

Last, but not least. The butterfly was already there, so I just added the "Kramar" and the two stamps at the very bottom. Sometimes, less really is more.

Hugs.

This is what it looked like when finished. I wanted to keep the backs fairly simple, but not totally naked. For the very last one I added two grass stamps in blue, and a doublestamped "Enjoy".

Wedding invitations

A friend asked me if I could help her out with wedding invitations recently. Of course I could!! :)

Layers in white and gold.

I won't show the inside here, because I don't think it's official just yet. :)

Jeans pocket card

Some time ago I needed a really quick birthday/gift voucher card done, and ended up with this one.
Inside there's a jeans pocket to hold the voucher, and along with the black&white, hints of red and silver sparkle, it turned out kinda cool.

Dress card tutorial

Ok, so this is a tutorial I've been thinking about making for a long long time. Thanks to a stranger I finally did it! :)
I got a mail from a girl who saw my Here comes the bride[card] and was curious about how to make it. After creating a very quick tutorial for her I figured I could just as well share it with you too.
Here goes.

First, here's my original dress card to the left, and the smaller template to the right.

Start with tracing and cutting a circle. This template is app. 12 cm in diameter. Mark out the center. Now it's time to measure where to score (in this tutorial I've drawn lines with a pencil, but you're really just scoring).
With a ruler, mark along the edge of the circle, 2 cm for the big piece, and 1 cm for the small one. You'll need 5 big pieces, with 4 small pieces in between each one.
Note: this is not an exact measurement, if your cicle is larger you'll need to adjust here. Also, if you want a wider dress you can make bigger pieces, and vice versa. The ratio is however always 2/1.
After scoring, cut at the top line and fold the others so that you end up with three parts facing up, and two down. The two remaining "flaps" will be the back of the dress. There you have it!

I added a lace petticoat but that, of course, is optional.

My template transfered onto scrapbooking paper. The top was made by first cutting the desired shape in plain white paper, folded in half for symmetry, and then traced and cut.

The finished result.

Folded pocket card

One of my sweet aunties had a big birthday coming up, and since we live far apart and don't get to visit that often, I wanted to make her a special card.
The idea for this card came from the Meander fold mini album and is made from a single sheet of paper but I wanted it more card-sized, so instead of all those folds I made only two.
First in half, and then half of that, wich left me with a 15x15 cm card, with the possibilities of two pockets. I went with one facing forward, and one upward.

I thought the front was kinda nice already so I just drew an additional swirl, heat embossed in copper brown, and added a few flowers with a gemstone center.
Once opened it looks like this. The big brown butterfly is part of the paper, I put two friends there for company and gave them all glitter bodies. For the opposite side a printed quote and the cutest little clock charm.

These are the tags that slides into the pockets...

...with birthday greetings of course. I printed it onto cardstock, and again added some glitter. Glitter makes everything more festive, don't you think?

For the back pocket I slipped in a few photos and made it look like I taped them on the tag. It's not washi tape though, the rose patterned one is some sort of plastic, and the brown dotted one is made of fabric.

The lovely quote again. In translation, it says:

The people who has got the most out of their lifes
isn’t the ones who has lived a century,
it is the ones that have lived every minute

Hug a heart

This woven card from my pile of "might come in handy"-cards came in handy one day when I needed a birthday card and had no time to make one from scratch.
I really like this stamp. The "hug" is emphasized with a touch of glitter...

...and so is this little talking bird.

Barely noticeable is the heart shape from the cover, even though it too is enhanced with a glitter line.

I've got sunshine

For this card I wanted to try out a raindrop tutorail that I read about. Rainy cards are a bit boring though, so I added some sunshine. The way this summer's been acting, we could all use a reminder to celebrate those random rays of sunshine.

A dark cloudy picture indeed. The raindrops didn't really end up the way I'd like them to, I think I used too little for each drop.

what's cooking

Ooops, what happened? I thought I was smart and made several posts to be published later on. Obviously I made something wrong... I'll give it a new try here.

This is a card I made for no special reason, other than that I wanted to try out a new set of stamps (a freebie from a magazine). Clearly I'm not the coloring stamp-type! I used color pencils, cause that's what I had. I'm sure copics would have been so much easier.

I wont buy any copics though. In fact, I think I'll end up selling/sending the stamps somewhere they will be more used. They are adorable, but frankly a bit intimidating to me. :)

A closer look at doggie and his friend. For the collar-tag I used a silver pen, and put a drop of Glossy accent on top for that extra shine.

baby girl baptism

I had to have a break from snowmen, santas, tinsel and wrapping paper, and decided it was perfect time to make the card for Ebba's baptism. It ended up very very pink....
For the front I used a border punch with cute little hearts, a greeting stamp and big bold bow threaded through the card. (Yep, I did trim the ends before giving it away, seems I was in a bit of a hurry to take these pics ;))

A really sweet paper for this card. With the delicate flower branches it needed only very little effort to look stunning, so I just enhanced the twigs with a thouch of ice stickles in crystal and pink. To match the bold-colored bow I matted the greeting with a cherry paper, again with the heart shaped border.

For the chrisom I tried something I've thought about since I made the wedding dress card (Here comes the bride[card]); to make a chrisom with the same technique. :) I soon discovered it needed a few adjustments as I went along, but the original idea is still there with the folded skirt (even though you can't see it in these photos).

The pink petticoat is stamped with a floral swirl, then heat embossed in Bridal for that shimmering look. For the hemline a touch of ice stickles. The vellum dress is open to reveal the petticoat. For the borders I used a pair of pattern scissors and then the tip of a pen to make the dots....wich aren't that visible here...naja. You can see the glittering twigs a bit in this pic though.

I needed something to draw attention to the chrisom without taking over the card, so I made the dress "fall out" from a small chipboard frame. A flower sticker in the same color as the bow looks nice on the top, and pearls are always pretty (and covers up the joint between the top and bottom part of the dress).

Cute, huh? :)

Fair[y] and square

Some days ago I brushed up an oooold card of mine, to send as a birthday card. Seems I was into squares back then :) Anyway, I just added the fairy sticker in the upper left corner cause I felt something was missing there.

For the inside, I kept it simple with one of my fave sentiments, a grass stamp, some ice stickles and a butterfly, and it was good to go.

Surf box

Got to use a card from my stash last weekend (displayed in this post). :) It's really great to have a few (ok ok a LOT) ready-made cards for those last minute gifts. The birthday boy wished for money and I wanted something more than just an envelope to give him, so I made a little gift box to match the card. They DO match, it's just my camera acting up on me here. ;)
All papers used are from DCWV's Thahiti Beach mat stack.
